White Cliffs, Wanstone 'Jane' Western Magazine
The 15-inch (380mm) diameter shells were approximately 5ft 3in long (1.6m) and weighed 1938 lbs (900 kg). Shells were stored in racks in the heavily reinforced magazines. Overhead cranes stacked the arriving shells and manoeuvred the stored shells onto trolleys, pulled by small diesel tractor vehicles, for delivery to the gun.
