New River Head Coal Store

The coal store at New River Head, Islington, London. New River Head was a site established in 1613 to supply clean water from springs in Hertfordshire to London and consisted of reservoirs and pumping engines.

This building was completed in 1849 and designed by William Chadwell Mylne. It would have been used to store coal for the nearby Engine House.

New River Head is now undergoing a period of transformation and renovation to become the new Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration.
