Ham House Green Closet
The Green Closet at Ham was a space designed for intimate conversation and admiration of small pieces of art, or ‘miniatures’. It includes work by renowned court miniaturists Nicholas Hilliard and his protégé Isaac Oliver, as well as a wealth of 17th century Dutch art. William and Catherine Murray invested in the interiors and collection at Ham in the late 1630s, including the creation of this room which would have been similar to the closet of Charles II at Whitehall Palace.
