Four Inch QF Twin Gun
A twin 4-inch gun on the parade ground (west side) of Tilbury Fort, Essex.
From the information sheet:
"The twin 4-inch entered service in 1939. This example was made at the Royal Gun Factory in 1940 at Patricroft, Manchester. The barrels were used only in twin mountings. The army used a small number of twin guns in coast defences where space was limited and a rapid concentration of fire was important. The twin 4-inch was short lived and declared obsolete in 1943. Some, though, remained in coast defences until the end of the Second World War in 1945."
Date: Mark XVI 1940.
