Chartwell, Winston Churchill's Study
Winston and Clementine Churchill bought Chartwell, near Westerham in Kent in 1922; it would be their family home for the next forty years. Parts of the mansion, including the Study, date to the early-mid 16th century.
This room was Churchill’s workshop, which, apart from during the Second World War, he used constantly for 40 years. He found it easiest to work standing up and would dictate to a secretary sat at the large mahogany writing-desk in the middle of the room.
