Ankerwycke Trench 2 - Week 2

Trench 2 was located on the raised square platform located to the south of the upstanding chalk walls. Geophysics showed a cross, which was interpreted as a possible Tudor Garden. This is how the Trench looked at the end of week 2 of our community archaeology excavation. You can find how it looked at the end of week 1 here: https://skfb.ly/owxpS

The primary research question of #AnkerwyckeDig22 was to identify whether the cloister could be indentified north or south of the upstanding remains (https://skfb.ly/owxVL). Trench 2 was opened to see if there was medieval activty under the Tudor garden. Though we found demolition layers and medieval occupation layers no features were found. This with the results of Trench 1 have meant we have identifed the cloister was to the north of the visible remains.
